Sustainability • Green Digital Skills • Environmental Technology • Public Outreach • Project Planning
This capstone project was completed as part of the Green Digital Certificate Program through INCO Academy in cooperation with LinkedIn. The project focused on reducing the environmental impact of digital technology by raising public awareness of greener digital choices. The certificate was completed on June 11, 2025.
Many people use digital devices, online services, cloud storage, social media, email, and AI tools without understanding their environmental footprint. My objective for this project was to design an awareness campaign that would make digital sustainability easier to understand and act on.
My proposed solution was a local awareness campaign targeting high schools, community colleges, neighborhood events, and community festivals. The campaign would include an eco-friendly website, handouts, demonstrations, and public engagement activities focused on practical green digital habits.
The project plan includes a core project team, content creators, web and flyer designers, marketing support, fundraising support, and volunteers for public outreach. The strategy includes developing statistically supported educational content, building a green website, creating handouts, securing school and festival partnerships, and collecting follow-up survey data.
Success would be measured through website traffic, post-event survey responses, and follow-up commitments from participants who attempted to make greener digital choices after the campaign. The project proposes a 60-day follow-up survey window after each outreach event.
This project demonstrates my ability to connect technology, sustainability, public outreach, and project planning. While not a GIS project, it supports my broader interest in sustainable technology, environmental communication, and practical climate-conscious decision-making.
