Hello and welcome to my GIS Portfolio! I'm very glad you stopped by to check it out!
I’m currently pursuing degrees in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, and Spanish at San Diego Mesa College, with a focus on applying spatial analysis to real-world environmental and sustainability challenges.
Relevant coursework includes Introduction to Mapping and GIS, Cartography and GIS, and Spatial Analysis with GIS, covering ArcGIS Pro workflows, spatial analysis, raster modeling, cartographic design, data management, and project-based GIS communication.
I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). I bring over 35 years of experience in IT, including leadership, project management, data analysis, quality assurance, and application development.
Interestingly, GIS wasn’t even on my radar until I returned to school in 2025. What started as curiosity quickly turned into something I genuinely enjoy. It’s been both challenging and rewarding to connect my background in IT and project management to this new direction.
I’ve always had a strong interest in nature and the sciences, and GIS and Geography align naturally with that. This shift isn’t random, it’s a deliberate move toward work that feels more meaningful and grounded in real-world impact.
I’m currently seeking a GIS-related internship for 2026, ideally one with long-term potential. I’m also open to flexible, part-time roles that complement my academic work.
If you’re working on a GIS-related project that could benefit from strong analytical thinking, clear communication, and someone who genuinely enjoys working with data, let’s connect. I’m happy to share a streamlined resume upon request.
My experience in systems implementation, data management, and process automation provides a strong foundation for tackling complex environmental problems. I’m particularly interested in climate data analysis, disaster response systems, and sustainable technology solutions.
Core strengths include:
Analytical thinking and problem-solving
Clear, effective communication
Cross-functional collaboration and team leadership
Managing projects from concept through delivery
Working efficiently in resource-constrained environments
Adapting technical solutions to evolving challenges
